An option set is everything a customer answers about a print job — sizes,
materials, finishes, quantities, artwork — together with the pricing rules that
turn those answers into a price.
Sets are independent of products. One set can serve a single product or fifty,
and editing it updates every product that uses it.
Starting from a template
Templates are complete, working option sets for common print products:
Every template is a starting point: rename anything, delete what you don’t
sell, and set your own prices.
The builder
The builder has three panes:
- Outline (left) — the structure of your set: sections, and the fields
inside them. Drag to reorder, and use the
+ buttons to add.
- Editor (middle) — the settings for whatever you selected: a field’s
label, type, choices and price changes, or the product’s own settings.
- Preview (right) — the real configurator, updating as you edit. What you
see here is what your customer sees.
Your work saves as you type. The Product settings — reached by
clicking the product name at the top of the outline — hold the title,
layout (all sections at once, or a step-by-step wizard) and currency.
Sharing a set across products
Shopify and WordPress reach the same behaviour by different routes:
Once several products share a set, editing it once republishes to all of them.
The builder tells you how many: the publish button reads Update 4 products
rather than just Publish.
Removing options from a product
Choose Remove on the Shopify Products page, or select None in the
WordPress product tab. The product immediately reverts to your store’s normal
add-to-cart, and nothing about the option set itself changes — other products
using it are unaffected.
